Interestingly, there was also an overall difference by self-reported race in the HATIM sample (P=0.014; Figure 1D ), with a trend towards higher levels of 2-AAA in Asian (2-AAA ion count 359 x10 4 ± 45 x10 4 ) compared to Black (2-AAA ion count 249 x10 4 ± 65 x10 4 ) and white (2-AAA ion count 279x10 4 ± 75x10 4 ) individuals, although there were only three individuals self-identifying as Asian in this sample, so the differences did not reach statistical significance in post hoc tests.
