Two hours after reperfusion, they observed a reduction in the HID, which was greater the higher the dexmedetomidine dose; however, the differences did not reach statistical significance. 58 Another study also reported that lower doses of dexmedetomidine (5 μg/kg) also reduced intestinal damage after clamping the SMA for 1 h followed by 2 h reperfusion; 33 , 45 which is also consistent with our findings.
