However, in our study of Chinese medical history, especially when looking through historical materials such as medical books, local chronicles, genealogies, notes and anthologies, the author found that the self-treatment phenomenon in the Ming-Qing dynasties had quite significant characteristics compared with the previous dynasties, mainly reflected in: Before the Song Dynasty, the imparting of medical knowledge was closed and inaccessible to ordinary people, while after the Song-Yuan Dynasties, medical knowledge was in an open state, especially in the Ming-Qing dynasties, the trend of popularization and socialization was particularly obvious.
