All patients had received RBC transfusions within four weeks prior to the PRT and the median volume of RBC transfusion decreased from 1120 mL (range 280–3360 mL) before the PRT to 280 mL (range 0–5560 mL) after the PRT, although the difference did not reach statistical significance ( P = 0.052) (Fig. 3 B).
