This is based on epidemiological studies that have demonstrated a slightly significant inverse relationship between a high intake of total vegetables (with a relative risk of 0.82 and a 95% confidence interval of 0.74–0.90) [ 3 ] or a diet rich in fruits and vegetables (with a relative risk of 0.85 and a 95% confidence interval of 0.76–0.95) [ 4 ] and the risk of developing estrogen receptor-negative (ER-negative) breast cancer.
