Chinese first-year undergraduates' strategy use in the English writing from sources task: influences from genders, critical thinking, and L2 proficiency.

It has been found that students with higher levels of critical thinking ability tend to use discourse synthesis, planning, and evaluation strategies more frequently, with a clear trend of high-level thinkers using these strategies more than medium-level thinkers, who in turn use them more than low-level thinkers.
