Noteworthy to mention, the Amerindian B*35:12 subtype [common HLA-B in the cohort (AF = 0.032, rank ninth), rarely or not observed in non-Mestizo populations from Mesoamerica) was associated with higher HIV pVL values in both linear regression univariable and multivariable analyses (0.49 and 0.43 log 10 pVL increase, respectively, with respect to B*35:12 negative individuals; in all cases, P < 0.05) and with lower CD4 counts [univariable coefficient: −39.2, P = 0.054 (did not reach statistical significance)].
