DEGs also showed a trend for enrichment in marker genes of smooth muscle cells that make up the walls of blood vessels (Figure S2C ), but it is unclear whether it reflected an increase or a decrease in the proportion of smooth muscle cells, as the signal was inconsistent: 17/28 of the marker genes increased in expression, and 11/28 decreased in expression.
