Cox regression analysis showed that baseline (day 1) markers did not predict mortality; Day 5 sTM > 4.6 ng/ml [hazard ratio (HR) 6.4, 95% CI 0.84–48.1), p = 0.07] and day 5 D-dimer > 1103 ng/ml [HR 3.84, 95% CI (0.86, 17.08), p = 0.078] showed a trend towards increased hospital mortality (supplementary Table S3 ).
