When stratified by sex, our results suggested that sedentary lifestyle was associated with increased risk of all-cause mortality in both men (HR, 1.58; 1.09 to 2.29) and women (HR, 1.66; 1.23 to 2.25); the risk of CVD-related death also increased in both sexes, but did not reach statistical significance.
