The rpoS gene showed a slightly significant reduction in transcript levels (1.8-fold) upon treatment with 2.5 μg/ml 5-FC ( Fig. 3 C), suggesting that decreased RpoS levels might partially account for the inhibition of curli operons expression [ 26 ].
