s have questioned whether it was the level of ROP or the treatment arm played a role in the myopia seen in their study population.[ 19 ] In the study by Ruan et al ., eyes with a disease in Zone 1 were found to have higher levels of myopia in comparison to eyes with disease in Zone 2, although this did not reach statistical significance ( P = 0.310).[ 19 ] However, they found that the extent of the treatment area in relation to the development of myopia and the risk for higher levels of myopia was significant.[ 19 ] This was also seen in our study in which 22.2% of the patients with Zone II ROP were myopes in comparison to 9.0% in patients with Zone III disease.
