Interestingly, the groups treated with the with human acellular dermis as a replacement for the induced membrane technique histologically showed a trend towards better bone healing in comparison to the defects treated with Masquelet’s induced membrane technique, whereas the median bone mineral density of the defect site was slightly higher in the animals in the Masquelet groups.
