Meanwhile, the results of the interaction test did not reach statistical significance for age and gender ( p for interaction >0.05), suggesting that the link between DII and cognitive decline remained consistent across different age groups and genders. 4 Discussion The present study suggests that the risk of cognitive impairment increases with higher DII scores among elderly individuals, and the robustness of the findings was confirmed through adjustment for various potential confounding variables.
