The administration of 0.5% l -carnitine significantly reduced the incidence of liver tumors in Ath+HFD mice (38.5%; 7 adenoma and 3 HCC out of 26 mice; p <0.001), and 1% l -carnitine also reduced the incidence of liver tumors (16.7%; 4 adenoma and 1 HCC out of 30 mice; p <0.0001), although the difference between 0.5% and 1% l -carnitine did not reach statistical significance ( p =0.06).
