It is important to acknowledge that the indirect effects reported in this study are relatively small, and while the direction of these effects were the same in the two samples, the mediating influence of alexithymia on psychopathy and suppression/reappraisal, as well as between all three psychopathy factors and empathy or suppression/reappraisal, did not reach statistical significance in the forensic sample.
