Results of the TESLA trial were released in 2023, showing no significant benefit for MT in patients with a more inclusive ASPECTS range of 2-5, although results approached significance with a benefit trend mirroring the previous large core trials. 28 At the time of publication, additional large core AIS trial has completed enrollment, but results are pending—LASTE; meta-analysis of currently published results confirms benefit of MT in patients with large infarct. 29–31 Building on the strength of previous AIS trials and advances in devices and techniques to safely reach occlusions, attention now turns to distal locations in smaller vessels.
