This is supported by the finding that patients with chronic insomnia exhibited significantly altered alpha-diversity of the GM, whereas the difference between the acute insomnia group and controls did not reach statistical significance [ 34 ], suggesting that longer durations of sleep disorders may have a greater impact on the patient’s microbiome diversity.
