Therefore, not just a simple reduction in the use of plastics, but especially suitable practices in the recovery, reuse and recycling of plastics, would help in mitigating the problem to a quite significant extent; another possible way (which can be seen as an alternative or, at least, as a complementary way) might be based on the use of biodegradable plastics (additional discussion will be given in a following section of this paper).
