Post-intervention, carnosine levels within the gastrocnemius were higher in the beta-alanine group than the placebo ( p = 0.048) and moderately correlated to changes in the rate of fatigue during the 1-min sprint (r = 0.63, p = 0.06), although this relationship did not reach statistical significance.
