A prospective cluster-controlled crossover trial found that a pre-impregnated hydrogen peroxide-based wipe was significantly better than a quaternary ammonium-based disinfectant at reducing total colony counts on surfaces, and reduced colonization and infection by MDRO pathogens to a greater extent, although the difference between disinfectants did not reach statistical significance [ 228 ].
