performed an institutional study of 553 melanoma (> 1.0-mm Breslow depth) patients ≥ 75 years between 1996 and 2011 and reported lower MSS for patients who did not undergo SLNB, yet this result did not reach statistical significance ( p = 0.172). 10 The question remains whether SLNB adds value for elderly patients with melanoma when considering the risks and benefits of the procedure.
