The relaxivity ( r 1 ) values of the five new Gd(III) complexes at 20 MHz and 298 K ( Table 1 ) show a clear trend with higher values found for GdHPADO3A-MP, GdHPPDO3A, and GdHPADO3A-Ser, all having free polar hydrophilic peripheral groups with respect to the protected analogue GdHPPEtDO3A.
