In 162 patients undergoing consecutive radiographic measurements at baseline, > 5-year follow-up, and > 10-year follow-up, the number of those without any cervical spine instability significantly decreased from 85 (52.5%) to 46 (28.4%) during the initial > 5 years ( p < 0.001), which further decreased to 32 (20.4%) during the last > 5 years but did not reach statistical significance ( p = 0.069).
