However, treatment with liraglutide was associated with a significant increase in serious cardiac side-effects (12 versus three; p<0.05).[ 36 ] The FIGHT trial, which looked at patients who had recently been hospitalised for acute HF and were treated with liraglutide, found the therapy was associated with higher rates of HF hospitalisations or allcause deaths than placebo (143 versus 96 events), although the difference did not reach statistical significance.[ 37 ] The efficacy and safety of GLP-1RAs may vary across the spectrum of HFrEF and HFpEF patients.
