showed a trendp = 0.22
Although lysed samples in our preliminary analysis showed a trend to a lower cell count (mean count: 100.5 ± 26.4 cells vs. 159.0 ± 75.1 cells, p = 0.22) and lower RNA concentration (mean concentration: 75.5 ± 25.6 pg/μl vs. 91.5 ± 60.6 pg/μl, p = 0.65), no distinct effect of lysis on the RNA profile of hyalocytes could be inferred, as highlighted by the conducted principal component analysis (PCA, Additional File 2 A) and heatmap visualization (Additional File 2 B).
