In the ALS group, there was a significant inverse correlation of age at evaluation with both CSF NFL ( r = – 0.178, p = 0.017) and CSF miR-181b levels ( r = – 0.233, p = 0.030); a negative trend was also observed for CSF CHIT1, albeit without statistical significance (Fig. 3 A–C ).
