Predictors of 3–4-Year HRQoL Male sex (HR: 2.02; 95% CI: 1.14–3.56; p = 0.02), less severe index stroke (NIHSS: HR: 0.94; 95% CI: 0.90–0.99; p = 0.02), and the absence of diabetes mellitus as a risk factor (HR: 2.21; 95% CI: 1.04–4.70; p = 0.04) approached significance as independent predictors for better global HRQoL (as measured with SF-36) among 195 responding 3–4-year stroke survivors.
