In the subgroup analyses by study design, the meta-analysis of cohort studies and case-control studies showed a significant association between the risk of COPD and RA (OR=1.77, 95%CI 1.60 to 1.97, I 2 = 71.8%, P =0.000; OR=1.43, 95%CI 1.17 to 1.75, I 2 = 20.0%, P =0.028), whereas the meta-analysis of cross-sectional studies suggested a slightly significant link between the risk of COPD and RA ( Table 2 ).
