Another descriptive, cross-sectional study showed a trend toward a decrease in the number of Clostridium cluster IX and Lactobacillaceae in symptomatic intestinal diverticular disease patients, which is consistent with the protective effect of Ligilactobacillus ruminis against intestinal diverticular disease found in our study ( Barbara et al., 2017 ).
