12 The MAGIC-MT trial, conducted in a similar fashion, did not reach statistical significance, but subgroup analysis showed a reduced risk of serious adverse events in the embolization group: relative risk (RR) 0.58. 13 The EMBOLISE trial showed that supplementing traditional burr-hole surgery with embolization reduces the risk of hematoma recurrence: RR 0.36. 14 Following these promising results, a recent consensus-based statement was released, recommending that MMA embolization should be considered as a treatment for both de novo, and recurrent cSDH in patients with coagulopathy or on antithrombotics, as in this case.
