Whereas reduced GDNF and bFGF mRNA and protein expressions in human Sertoli cells have been published in the case of severely disrupted spermatogenesis, Sertoli-cell-only [ 63 ] and NOA [ 31 ] human patients, our study showed a trend toward upregulation of these factors, matching the findings of Jensen et al. in affected men [ 64 ].
