After controlling for age and birth cohort effects, the period effect showed that from 1990–2021, the risk of incidence and prevalence of MM in both males and females in China showed a stable upward trend with the increase of the period, while the risk of mortality and DALYs showed a trend of first increasing, then stabilizing, and then decreasing over time.
