High-improvement hospitals had half the staff size compared with low-improvement hospitals (34.9 vs 76.7, p=0.046) and half the number of operating rooms (3.1 vs 6.2), although differences in the number of operating rooms did not reach statistical significance (p=0.077) ( table 4 ).
