In 2023, a quality implementation program(QIP) was introduced in Lombardy (Northern Italy) which included an educational and organizational intervention to improve the standard of care in sepsis diagnosis and treatment and sepsis knowledge of medical and nursing staff out of the ICU, not only the overall compliance with the Hour-1 bundle increased but also hospital mortality in the entire study population showed a trend toward a lower rate after QIP as compared to before QIP [ 9 ].
