In model 1, participants in the second tertile of serum chloride had a 17% lower risk of MetS (OR = 0.83, 95% CI: 0.72–0.95, p = 0.01), and those in the highest tertile had a 19% lower risk (OR = 0.81, 95% CI: 0.69–0.95, p = 0.01), with a significant trend (p for trend < 0.01).
