Similar to our results with the Airway Chip, these studies suggested that H1N1 infection generates a higher viral load in COPD airway epithelium compared to healthy tissue, as determined by qPCR analysis; however, there was greater variability in this study involving four different donors, and thus the results did not reach statistical significance ( Figure 2 A).
