Conversely, expanding spatial frequency bandwidth did not further improve orientation discrimination performance and even showed a trend towards reduced performance with higher spatial frequency bandwidth (Fig. 7d , percentage of correct trials: narrow (0.004 cpd) = 72.53% ± 2.85%; mid-range (0.04 cpd) = 69.18% ± 2.12%, Wilcoxon signed rank test against narrow percentage of correct trials, p = 0.79; broad (0.4 cpd): 65.34% ± 3.60%, p = 0.29, mean ± s.e.m., n = 24, 16 and 18 sessions for each condition from 6 mice).
