Because the patient had no evidence of cirrhosis during hospital evaluation, the high AI-ECG probability of cirrhosis may be considered a “false positive.” However, because a clear trend was observed between elevation of the AI-ECG probability of cirrhosis and elevation of the MELD-Na score in the derivation study, this algorithm may detect severe liver disease more broadly. 4 Because the patient had MELD-Na of 42, it is relatively unsurprising that the AI-ECG probability of cirrhosis was elevated and that the probability significantly decreased after the transplant ( Figure A). 4 Interestingly, there was an increase in the probability of AFib after the operation before the first event during dialysis (December 2018).
