Islets isolated from high cholesterol-fed mice displayed a near-significant increase in cholesterol ( Figure 1—figure supplement 1A ) accompanied by decreased exendin-4-induced cAMP responses ex vivo ( Figure 1—figure supplement 1B ), highlighting the negative impact of even mild increases in cholesterol on GLP-1R signalling.
