Statistical analyses using Shannon’s index ( p < 0.05) ( Figure 5A ), Simpson’s index ( p = 0.1028) ( Figure 5B ), and the Chao1 index ( p < 0.01) ( Figure 5C ) indicated that while Shannon (diversity) and Chao1 (richness) indices showed significant age-dependent changes, Simpson’s index (evenness) did not reach statistical significance ( p > 0.05), suggesting that microbial community evenness remained relatively stable during early development.
