While this does not negate the ANOVA result, the discrepancy may stem from several factors: insufficient power in post-hoc tests due to having too few observations per group; a high number of comparisons, which increases the chance of Type I errors (false positives); the ANOVA result being only marginally significant (ie, a P -value close to .05); and some post-hoc tests requiring stronger evidence to declare significance. 47 In this study, while the Semi-Urban & Rural and Urban LGA groups had few observations, the total number of toilets showed marginal significance ( P = .033).
