In the Look AHEAD study [ 2 ], a trial designed to test an intensive lifestyle and weight loss intervention (5 years) to reduce cardiovascular mortality in patients with type 2 diabetes, a tertiary analysis found that, at a median 11 years after the initial intervention, there was a 16% reduction in the risk of obesity-related cancers, but this did not reach statistical significance.
