However, several metabolites had nominal P values < 0.05 comparing HCs and non– l -Dopa–treated PD patients, which we consider relevant as (i) applying strict statistical correction for multiple testing might mitigate all but significant effects if such a magnitude of tests are performed; (ii) several of these metabolites have been consistently reproduced in other studies as we recently reviewed ( 4 ); (iii) several of these metabolites belong to the same biological pathways, making a role in PD metabolism more plausible; and (iv) some of the relevant metabolites were associated with disease state and progression, further highlighting their biological impact.
