In contrast, the alveolar type 1 (AT1) epithelial marker gene, advanced glycosylation end product–specific receptor ( AGER ), was markedly downregulated ( Figure 1H ); other AT1 markers, HOP homeobox ( HOPX ; 0.39 log 2 fold, P = 0.052) and caveolin 1 ( CAV1 ; 0.45 log 2 fold, P = 0.054), were downregulated but did not reach statistical significance.
