At the gross anatomical level, we found that the hippocampus as a whole and the posterior hippocampus showed a trend for a negative correlation between presented and predicted-but-omitted shapes (whole: z = −0.069, t 29 = −2.00, P = 0.055; posterior: z = −0.086, t 29 = −1.95, P = 0.061; Fig. 2 ), while there was no evidence of anterior hippocampus involvement ( z = −0.049, t 29 = −1.32, P = 0.199).
