An analysis of the past few decades of ocean and atmosphere measurements reveals no notable trend in surface wind speed over the North Atlantic Ocean, but there is a marked trend towards shallower MLDs across all seasons (Fig. 3e and, for summer, Extended Data Figs. 7a , 8a ), as well as a notable trend towards increased incoming solar radiation in summer (Extended Data Fig. 7c ).
