Baseline statin treatment at the time of study entry was associated with decreased odds of early ischemic stroke recurrence in adjusted logistical regression analysis (OR 0.70, 95 % CI 0.50–0.99, P = 0.04), an effect only marginally significant in adjusted Cox proportional hazard analyses (HR 0.72, 95 % CI 0.52–1.01, P = 0.05).
