Model 2 (SDQ externalizing) also showed significant effects for stress and education; the interaction between modulation and stress approached significance ( p = 0.07), with a bootstrapped 95% confidence interval ranging from −0.001 to 0.044.
Although its role as a moderator in the regression model was only borderline significant, it appeared as a potential moderating variable between maternal stress and child emotional and behavioral characteristics.
The limited power to detect interaction effects (1 − β = 0.53) may have contributed to the borderline significance observed.
