Further subgroup analyses revealed that hydrocortisone use was linked to higher mortality, whereas dexamethasone showed a trend toward a protective effect, although the association was not statistically significant (in-hospital mortality: HR 0.70 [0.41–1.18]; ICU mortality: HR 0.69 [0.37–1.29]).
